The Role of Dry Sandpaper, Sponge Sandpaper and Water-resistant Sandpaper

Ⅰ. Sponge sandpaper

Suitable for grinding smooth parts, all kinds of materials can be used. The sanding process of sponge sandpaper has the characteristics of high production efficiency, good surface quality and low production cost. Therefore, sponge sandpaper is widely used in furniture production, and the final surface quality of furniture products is closely related to the sanding process. Sponge sandpaper is the main tool in the sanding process.

Ⅱ. Dry sandpaper

Dry sandpaper uses synthetic resin as a binder, bonds silicon carbide abrasives on latex, and is coated with an antistatic coating to make high-end products, with anti-blocking, anti-static, good softness, and high wear resistance.

A variety of fineness are available, suitable for grinding metal surfaces, putty and coatings; dry sanding paper is generally made of special kraft paper and latex paper, natural and synthetic resins are used as binders, and are manufactured by advanced high-voltage electrostatic sand-planting process. This product has the characteristics of high grinding efficiency, not easy to stick chips, etc. It is suitable for dry grinding. Widely used in furniture, decoration and other industries, especially rough grinding.

Ⅲ. Water sandpaper

Also known as waterproof sandpaper or water-resistant sandpaper, it is named because it can be immersed in water or sanded in water. A kind of abrasive tool made of corundum or silicon carbide abrasives firmly adhered to the substrate, and its shapes are sheet-like and roll-like.

According to the abrasive points, it can be divided into: brown corundum sandpaper; white corundum sandpaper; silicon carbide sandpaper; zirconium corundum sandpaper, etc. According to the binder, it can be divided into: ordinary binder sandpaper; resin binder sandpaper.

The texture of water matte sandpaper is relatively fine, and water matte paper is suitable for polishing some things with finer texture, and it is suitable for post-processing; water matte sandpaper has a small gap between the sand grains, and the grinding powder is also small. When used with water, the crumbs will flow out with the water, so use it with water.

If the water sandpaper is used for dry grinding, the fines will remain in the gaps between the sand grains, which will dull the surface of the sandpaper, thus failing to achieve its original effect.

The dry sandpaper is not so troublesome. The gap between its sand grains is large, and the grinding powder is also large. During the grinding process, it will fall off due to the large gap, so it does not need to be mixed with water.

Ⅳ. The characteristics of water sandpaper

1. It is produced by linkage line, and the efficiency is high.

2. Since the water-resistant sandpaper uses varnish as the binder, the drying time is long, and the drying method is generally hanging drying.

3. Water-resistant sandpaper is generally finer in particle size. The particle size of Chinese water-resistant sandpaper starts from P80, and the fine particle size is connected with the particle size of metallographic sandpaper.

4. Water-resistant sandpaper is generally sanded under water conditions, so there is less dust and good working conditions.
