Characteristics and functions of sponge sandpaper

The types of abrasives, base, binder, and processes used in abrasive materials such as abrasive paper grit are constantly improving. Water sandpaper, dry sandpaper, sponge sandpaper, and other grinding techniques have the advantages of high production efficiency, good surface quality of processed devices, and low production costs. Therefore, they are widely used in furniture production. The final product quality of home products is inseparable from the grinding process. Sponge sandpaper is the main tool for polishing.

Sponge sandpaper is a belt-shaped tool used for grinding and polishing. It is made by bonding abrasive materials to flexible materials such as paper or cloth. Paper-based belts are relatively hard and can create highly polished surfaces. They are used for precision grinding and super-finishing. Cloth-based belts have higher strength than paper-based belts and are less sensitive to temperature and humidity, ensuring stability even in high temperatures and humidity. Cloth-based sponge sandpaper is much more durable than paper-based sponge sandpaper. The commonly used abrasives products in furniture production are aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, zirconium alumina, and garnet. Glass sand is used as an abrasive for manual abrasive paper grit, each with their own characteristics.

In general, for grinding materials, coarse grinding with large plasticity and large grinding area should use a coarse grit to avoid clogging and damage to softer workpieces. For precision grinding and harder workpieces, a fine grit should be used. The abrasives are bonded to the base with a binder. The binder should have properties such as strength, elasticity, heat resistance, and water resistance. The commonly used binders are animal glue and synthetic resin. Animal glue is not water-resistant, while synthetic resin has good water resistance. Water-resistant sponge sandpaper uses water-resistant synthetic resin as the base and adhesive, undergoing strict waterproof treatment. By selecting suitable base, abrasive, and binder according to the functions of the base, abrasive, and binder, as well as the processing objects and process requirements, the requirements of sanding and polishing can be met.

    Sponge sandpaper

Sponge sandpaper is the main tool for sanding and polishing. It is suitable for sanding smooth parts and can be used for various materials. The sanding process of sponge sandpaper has the characteristics of high production efficiency, good surface quality of processed surfaces, and low production cost. Therefore, it is widely used in woodworking, and the final surface quality of woodworking products is closely related to the sanding process.

    Dry abrasive paper grit

Dry abrasive paper grit is a high-end product made by bonding silicon carbide abrasive to latex paper using synthetic resin as the binder and applying an anti-static coating. It has the advantages of anti-clogging, anti-static, good flexibility, and high abrasion resistance. It is available in a variety of fineness and is suitable for sanding metal surfaces, wood surfaces, putty, and coatings. Dry sandpaper generally uses special cowhide paper and latex paper, and natural and synthetic resin as binders. It is manufactured using advanced high-static sanding technology. This product has high grinding efficiency and is not prone to clogging, making it suitable for dry sanding.

Dry abrasive paper grit, also known as dry abrasive paper, has larger gaps between the abrasive grains and produces larger fragments during grinding. During use, the larger gaps allow the fragments to fall off on their own, so it does not need to be used with water. The abrasive grains are generally high-quality silicon carbide, and the base is usually latex paper, which has better flexibility and heat dissipation during use and is less likely to cause clogging. Dry sandpaper is widely used in wood processing, stone processing, precision mold polishing, synthetic material processing, and other industries and trades. It is extensively used in wood construction, furniture, and other industries.
